We love to do this, but it’s a trap.
It’s like an itch that we just keep on scratching and scratching, even though our skin turns red and raw, and we start to wound ourselves.
Even though scratching provides no cure to the itch.
We think by doing something, and by pouring attention to the problem, we’re taking steps to solving it.
But that’s just worrying. Real solutions come from real action that makes an impact.
Worrying gives you a negative impact, and a negative net return on the energy that you pour into it.
What are some of the silly things we worry about, but do nothing to solve?
Time
“I don’t have enough time!”
“When will I have time?”
“I’ll get to it, when I have the time.”
At the same time, you’re worrying about how, and when, you’ll have the time to get what you need to get done.
Most often, it’s the seeming little things that we worry about not having time for.
Little things, that when left unnoticed, become huge problems.
Like that routine doctor’s checkup.
Paying your taxes and personal benefits.
Learning a new skill or hobby.
Taking further studies.
Spending time with family.
And we continuously blame time, and worry about not having enough time, as the culprit of this situation.
News Flash!: it’s not time that’s the problem here, it’s how you use your time.
It’s you.
We now this, but then, we keep worrying about time, and do nothing about it.
We just wait for our schedules to be filled up, endure and ride out all the commitments and have-tos and should-tos, and leave the want-tos by the wayside, dying and gasping for air.
Until they come back to haunt us for not paying attention to them.
It’s silly to worry about not having enough time.
Instead, take steps to control your energy, and your commitments.
Where do you spend your time? And is that where you want to be spending your time on?
Other people’s thoughts
Much has been said about influence, and how important it is.
Much has also been said about how unimportant other people’s opinions about you are.
What’s important, is what you think, especially about yourself.
Are you thinking at all? Instead of worrying about what other people will say about you, and what you do.
Meanwhile, the fatigue, stress, and resentment build up inside of us.
Worrying has never helped to right a situation, and to build up our inner resources. It just gives up power to something that we can’t directly influence and control.
Put simply: You never have complete control over what other people think, say, or do. That’s the surprise of people.
The key here, is to stop worrying, and start doing, something, for yourself.
You don’t have control over other people, but what do you have control over?
Yourself.
Your thoughts, words, decisions, and actions.
Put more attention into how you think about yourself. Because eventually, that’s what will come true.
Worrying about what other people think has never solved any problem.
Building up how you think about yourself, equips you to solve problems.
Money
I will admit, this is a favorite of mine to worry about.
And I caught myself in this trap, many, many times over.
I worry about money. Worry about not having enough of it, and where to best use it, and how to get more of it.
Money is important, but in a way, it’s also silly. Because most of the things that I want, that people want in their life, are things that money can’t buy.
And worrying about money, never got me any more of it, and never solved my problems about money.
And yet, I love to worry about it, and think about it, and to wonder and concern myself over how to make it, and where it’s going to come from next.
I realize, that’s actually wasting my energy and resources. It’s better to just go out and try new stuff, and get better at what I do, than to worry about money.
It’s like a plug. If you worry about something, you actually stop it from entering your life.
But if you don’t worry about it, and instead, do something about it, no matter how small, that serves to invite what you want, into your life.
And it’s a matter of always sending out the invitation, and being open to receive.
Worrying never got me any money, and yet we go out and do it everyday.
Worry as a replacement for action
But all we’re doing when we’re worrying, is spinning our wheels, and getting nowhere quickly.
Our mind, and our bodies, get tired from the constant inner complaining and moaning.
Do something about it. Take action.
Try new things, and make small experiments, and see what works.
Don’t give up on yourself, and trust in the process.
Eventually, you’ll see results.
Even on yourself. And you’re worrying.
