When you want something in your life, you want it to improve your situation, to drastically grant you your wishes, or maybe, a small daily improvement in your daily life.
Whatever the change, none of those things are obtained, kept, or happen, without changing fundamentals.
It’s not only about what you do to go get what you want, but rather, about the person you have to become, to get what you want.
What are some fundamental things you have to change, to get the change you want in your life?
Beliefs
What you believe in, is what you see, is what you look for, is what you go and settle for, is what you accept, and what you make come true.
That’s how powerful beliefs are. And if there’s something in your life right now, that you’re not getting, or you’re not keeping, probably, there’s a belief, a view, that’s stopping you from getting what you want.
A few years back, I kept telling myself that life was hard, and that money was so hard to come by. True enough, I felt that whatever I did was too hard, and that there was no progress no matter what.
That and my empty pockets and bank account.
Beliefs are key to creating change because they invade every single space of you, and determine the thoughts, reactions, and views you have, even the actions you deem impossible, or possible.
Take a self-check. What do you believe in, that’s making it hard for you to get what you want?
What do you believe in that makes what you want impossible? Is the opposite possible, the reverse, true?
Dr. Stephen Covey says that if you want small changes in your life, change your behaviors, but if you want quantum changes in your life, change your paradigms – how you see and believe things are.
Identity
When it comes to who you are, it’s not a matter of changing, actually.
But of becoming more of who you are.
To get to the point where we can be comfortable with who we are, what we have, as well as having the comfort and courage to accept what we value most, what is most important, and to make changes to align towards that.
At the start of my journey, I was so afraid. I was afraid of having to turn into someone that I’m not, in order to get the success that I want.
That’s false.
There are a million roads to success, each person using their own God-given talents and gifts, to be able to achieve it.
There is no one way to success. There is no template for you to follow.
You create your own template, become more and more comfortable in your own skin, take off your mask, an create the quiet, authentic, confidence which attracts blessings and success.
People don’t follow through on what they say, or what they do.
But people, absolutely, follow through on who they believe they are.
Questions
Questions act like spotlights. They focus our thoughts, feelings, and attention, to what is being asked. They make us think of solutions, reasons, and facts.
And how we use our questions, can help others, and us, to focus on the right things, find solutions and ways which we never thought possible, or to uncover what is most important for us.
But what happened in the past, was that I wasn’t aware of how I used my questions. And that destroyed opportunities that I had in the past.
I would ask myself disempowering questions, and then find reasons to further strip away power from me.
Questions such as:
“Why aren’t you a born salesman?”
“Why do you keep on failing?”
“Why are you so stupid?”
And since our mind is such a powerful force, it was able to come up with answers to all those questions.
I didn’t like the answers, but because I kept on asking those questions, and ended up getting answers, I came to believe them.
You can use questions for your own benefit and power. Questions such as:
“What strengths help you overcome difficulties?”
“What are you good at, and how can I develop them?”
“What must I do, to get closer to my dream?”
Ask positive, empowering, and powerful questions, to be positive, empowered, and powerful yourself.
Habits
How you do anything, is how you do everything.
The little habits which make up our everyday life, is our automatic way of doing things, influenced and created by our previous experiences, our upbringing, and in some cases, our selves.
What you want to do, is to identify which habits are working for you to help you get towards your goal, and keep that. Then, identify which habits are not helping you, and then to change that.
There is a system to changing a habit. But no matter what you do, what is important is to start with small steps, and then move one to bigger and bigger steps.
In the same way that it’s difficult to go from 0 to 60 instantly, you need to move small and slowly first, before ramping up the action of the habit.
The number one key though, is consistency.
Habits are how they are because we have been consistently doing them, with regularity. If you want to change your habits, you have to find ways to do the habit, the behavior/action that you want, consistently as well, so that it begins to replace the unhelpful habit.
It’s the small actions we do, compounded daily, that leads to great success. Have faith and trust in the process.
How you do anything, is how you do everything.
Change happens in an instant
But progress, does not.
When you want change, all it takes is a realization, an experience.
All it takes is a moment, and you’re a changed person. But that change, has not yet brought you anywhere, and is not permanent.
But that is the first step.
Trust the process, and the daily routines, the fundamental changes, and journey that bring you to your destination.
That will bring the change that you want.
