Imagine yourself, come December 31, 2017.
Where would you be? Who would you be with? What are you doing?
And, what have you done for the whole 2017?
What are you telling yourself?
What are you saying?
We all want to be in a better place, come the end of next year.
The challenge here is: What does that even mean?
What does that better place look like?
What would you have achieved? What would have happened?
Where are the places that you have gone to? What would you have done?
Be specific and clear with what it is that you want to get out of the year, and what you want to be saying to yourself.
“I want to have a nice, fantastic, breakthrough year!”
That sounds nice, but it won’t help you get anywhere closer to it. To whatever it is you’re looking for.
People never get what they want, because of one simple reason:
They don’t know what they want.
What do you want to be saying?
By the end of December 31, 2017, I want to be able to say to myself _______________.
I would have achieved __________________.
I would have went to ___________________.
I have better relationships with _________________.
Or whatever it is that you want to be saying to yourself.
Get clear on the outcome, and that will guide what you do, and how you do it, come 2017.
So you’re not stuck, telling yourself that you should have, or would have.
So you’re not stuck in regret.
Get clear.
What are you feeling when you look back?
What do you want to be feeling, as you say these things to yourself?
As you look back, do you want to be filled with pride, satisfaction, achievement, and excitement?
Or are you filled with dread, regret, frustration, and a nagging feeling of “I could’ve done more”?
Get cracking!
So then, if you’re clear with what you want to achieve for the year, and what you want to feel come the end of the year, what then do you need to do?
What do you need to do now, so that when you do get to the end of next year, you are where you want to be?
Get clear on what you want for your next year.
