Because I’m sick and tired of being bored.
How can life be so boring? There’s so much to do, so much to see?
But I fall into this rut, more frequently when I don’t take care of myself.
How do I get out of a boring life?
What’s the purpose?
What’s the goal?
I find myself most frequently bored of life, when I have nothing to work towards.
When you begin to drift, and just live out your days, for no specific purpose or effort. When you begin to feel comfortable. That’s a trap.
Until you wake up from your dreaming-while-awake state, and regret the time wasted.
Life gets boring because you don’t know if what you’ll be doing is worth it, is a good use of your time, is beneficial, or will get you somewhere.
Get a goal. It doesn’t have to be big. A small goal that will get you going, taking baby steps moving forward.
For quite some time now, I found it boring to go to the gym. I realized that was because I had already fulfilled my old goal, and was just going through the motions.
Now, I have a new physical fitness goal, and part of that is to commit to getting at least 3 workouts in a week.
Suddenly, that’s not so boring anymore, because I know that if I put in the time and the effort, I’ll get closer to where I want to be.
Set goals.
Or better yet, find and refine your life’s purpose. That way, you’ll never have a boring day for the rest of your life.
Do
Do something!
Try something!
Better yet, try something new!
Part of the cause of boredom is the repetition, and the routine. The lack of new experiences, and hardships and challenge (oh gosh!).
If you don’t do anything, any changes you may have in your mind, and in your heart, doesn’t become real. You have to DO something to make an impact in the real world.
And the reverse is also true. If you begin to do something, despite what you’re feeling, then you begin to get better.
All the times I’ve been anxious and afraid before I start a training session, or before a presentation, has just stayed at the beginning. Once I started doing, and got my training or presentation underway, I started to feel better, and the anxiety and fear just melts away.
If you want to overcome boredom, do something! Do something new, and challenge yourself.
One aspect of boredom is doing the same things, the same way, and foreseeing to get the same results.
Why not up the level of challenge? That way, you break that cycle, and break boredom in the process.
Always be doing.
Always be challenging yourself.
Mindset
Because what you think, is what becomes real.
We can only make true what we believe is to be true.
And if the belief is that my life is boring, that that’s all I’ll ever see, and that’s all that I’ll ever get.
Can it ALL be boring?
When I say that my life is boring, what I really mean is that there is a part of my life that is boring.
Not everything, just a part of it.
For the longest part, it has always been my career and my health for me.
And a lot of my performance, and boredom, in those areas, are caused by my mindset.
Look for something small to be thankful for. What else?
What is exciting in your life? What else?
What little thing gives you delight in this moment? What else?
If you change your mindset, then everything else become easier to change, especially your feelings.
Try this: stop telling yourself that your life is boring. Try another adjective.
See how that works out for you.
Out and In
Because we all want comfort, which is a very close cousin of boredom.
Be comfortable with the uncomfortable.
Always be pushing yourself.
Check your mindset, what do you always tell yourself about your life?
Take small steps, but keep on going.
Life isn’t boring.
How you live your life, maybe.
